30 March 2019 Christmas at Orlando Wetlands Park
AVA Special Programs: 5/10K walk: Walk in a City Park, Points of Reference, USA A to Z: C.

DESCRIPTION: Please sign the park register on way to the Pavilion. Register between 8:30-9:30 am and begin the walk. Walk fee is $3 per participant and children under 13 are free. If you wish, you can join a group walk at 9:05 am. Join us for a Soup and Salad lunch for $5. RSVP Please or sign up on our website. The walks provide wonderful vistas and you will see many birds, wildlife, and much more. Bring binoculars and cameras. The walk will be on the berms around the 42-ponding areas as water flows from the Iron Bridge Water Treatment plant to the St. Johns. Strollers can be accommodated but not wheelchairs. DIRECTIONS: Wetlands Park is at 25155 Wheeler Rd., 40 minutes east of downtown Orlando on SR 50 (Colonial Dr.) to Christmas, Florida. Go left for 2.3 miles on Ft. Christmas Rd. (CR 420) and then right on Wheeler Rd. 1.5 miles. Parking is on left. Walk starts in pavilion near restrooms. Additional parking may be available on the right, depending on the weather. 6 April 2019 Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs
AVA Special Programs: 6/10K walk: Points of Reference, USA A to Z: O. Bridges - Spanning the USA, Ice Cream Parlor, Carousels Across America, Make a Wish at a Water Fountain, Points of Reference, Walking the USA A - Z:O.

DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-9:00 am and drive two miles to the start. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. These popular 6 and 10 km walks are enjoyed all year in Disney Springs and areas of Lake Buena Vista. Lake Buena Vista encompasses the eastern side of Walt Disney World. The former Downtown Disney has been "magically" transformed to Disney Springs. Plan on 3-4 hours to enjoy the area. The walks take you through nature paths, condos, shops and lots of restaurants. Enjoy dining, shopping, browsing, and strolling through this completely restructured layout around the lake. Trail is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. DIRECTIONS: Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf is at 12545, State Road 535. From Orlando use I-4W to Exit 68. Turn right on FL 535 (Apopka-Vineland Rd.) to the first traffic light. From Tampa on I-4E use exit 68. Turn left on FL 535 (Apopka- Vineland Rd.) to the second traffic light. Turn right into the Crossroads Shopping Center. DESCRIPTION: We will walk about 9:30 am following our annual meeting held in conjunction with a great breakfast. Register between 7:45-8:30 am for the 5 & 10 km walks, order a delicious breakfast, and attend our short meeting with elections, 2019 Events discussion, awards, and your input comments. The walk is different from 2018. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. We encourage your participation to help us grow the club and develop events you want. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish. Wheel chairs and strollers acceptable but some streets have no sidewalks. Carry water for your safety. Event SE19/113683. Trail rated 1A. From Orlando on I-4E use Exit 88, Lee Road, and turn right (from Sanford on I-4W, turn left). Cross 17-92 and curve right. Turn left on Webster, right on Denning (1st light), and right on Canton. After Publix, turn right into Winter Park Village to Cafe on the left next to REI. From east or west Orlando on Colonial use US 17N-92E to Winter Park Village. DESCRIPTION: The Center opens at 9; register afterwards. This is a new route in 2019. The 5 and 10K (3.1 & 6.2 mi) walk registration is between 9:00-9:30. Walk instructions have local info on walk routes. You will walk on downtown and residential sidewalks. See historic downtown Orlando, Lake Eola, art projects downtown, and the County Courthouse. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-9:00 am for the 5 & 10 km (3.1 & 6.2 mi) guided walks. Participants should arrive by 8:45, park, and walk to registration at the Garden House. Credit walkers will stamp books before walking. All walkers will start at one time about 9:10 am. The 5K is at Leu Gardens and 10k visits the Audubon neighborhood after the Gardens. Route directions & maps will be available. The fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. The wonderful 50-acre garden is a treasure in Orlando. The gardens are known for their extensive floral collections. Blooming in May are roses, hibiscus, southern magnolia, royal poinciana, bananas, gardenia, jacaranda, poinciana, cassia, coral tree, shell ginger, sugar palms, voodoo lilies, crepe myrtles. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish and on route. The Garden is accepting donations to assist in the repair of Leu House closed after Hurricane Irma damage. Wheelchairs and strollers acceptable and some garden paths are not paved. No pets allowed. Carry water for your safety. Event SE19/113744. Trail rated 1A. DIRECTIONS: Leu Gardens is at 1920 N Forest Ave, Orlando. From Walt Disney area: Take I-4E to right at exit #85 onto Princeton St. Right on Princeton to Mills (Hwy 17-92). Go right on Mills to the 2d traffic light (Virginia Dr.). Left on Virginia and go about one mile, following the curve to the left. Take the left turn lane into the Gardens. From Daytona, Altamonte Springs on I-4W, left at exit #85 onto Princeton Street. to Mills (Hwy 17-92). Go right on Mills to the 2d traffic light (Virginia Dr.). Left onto Virginia and go about one mile, following the curve to the left. Take the left turn lane into the Gardens. From Mount Dora, Eustis, Apopka use FL441S to Princeton. Turn left onto Princeton and go 2.5 miles to & under I-4 and 0.5 miles to Mills (Hwy 17-92). Right on Mills and go to the 2d traffic light (Virginia Dr.). Left on Virginia and go about one mile, following the curve to the left. Take the left turn lane into the Gardens. From East Orlando area use FL408W (toll). Use Exit 14/Semoran Blvd. Right for 1.2 miles & left onto FL50W/Colonial. Turn right after 1.4 miles on Bennett for 1 mile; left onto Corrine Dr. for 0.6 mi. to the Gardens entrance on the right as road curves to left. Park and walk to the Garden House. DESCRIPTION: This is a new route for 2019. Register between 9:00 - 9:30 am for the 5 & 10km (3.1 & 6.2 mi) walk routes on beautiful Park Ave., Central Park, and Lake Maitland (10km). The 5km route is all in residential areas and Park Ave. Wheelchairs and strollers possible but some streets have no sidewalks and Kraft Azalea park is bypassed. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish and Lakemont YMCA (10km) only. Leashed pets are allowed (except in Parks). Trail rated 1A. Carry water for your safety. Sanction 2019/Y0394. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-9:00 am for the 5 & 10K walks. Walk fee is $3 per participant and children under 13 are free. The 5 and 10K walks can be walked to the mall (+2K) or drive 1/3 mile from Starbucks and enjoy this upscale mall with 2 floors. The 5 & 10km (3.1 & 6.2 mi) walk routes are inside the Mall. Before 10:00 am, enter thru a Mall entrance. The trails are suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed. Please carry water. Event: SE19/Y1728. Trail Ratings: 1A. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-9:00 am. Walk 6 or 10km (3.8 & 6.2 mi) in quiet residential streets, lakes, and city parks. Plan to visit the Maitland Arts Center while on the walk. The 10km walk is south of downtown and is tree lined, shaded walk near lakes, and through residential areas. The 5K is southwest of downtown passing the historic RR Station, Orlando Health and residential homes in the Lake Cherokee area. 10K restrooms are available at the start; 5K restrooms at start and AMTRAK Station.
