Traditional Events are walking events with designated start time ranges. Don't worry though...you still walk them at your own pace!

2020 Walks

December

5 December 2020 Sanford at Willow Tree Cafe.
EVENT: 6/10K walk

START: Register between 9:00 and 9:30 am.

AVA Special Programs: Rockin Around the Clock, Walk the USA A-Z: S.

NOTE: mask is required at registration and if distancing among walkers is not possible. In the Cafe masks are required when not seated.

Description: Register between 9-9:30 am. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. The 6 and 10km walks are tree lined, shaded walks along Lake Monroe, historic and new residential areas. Restrooms are available at the start but minimal on the route. Stop in at the Hollerbachs famous German Cafe after the walk - let us know by 28 Nov you will eat. Wheelchairs and strollers are acceptable. Leashed pets are allowed. Event: SE20/Y1242. Directions: To Willow Tree Cafe at 205 East 1st St, Sanford use I-4 to exit 101B staying left to SR 46. Right on SR 46 for 3.9 miles to US 17-92. Cross US 17-92 for 0.4 mi. to the parking lot at 1st St. and Palmetto. From Deland on I-4 use exit 101C. Left on SR 46 for 4 miles to US 17-92. Cross US 17-92 for 0.4 mi. to the parking lot at 1st St. and Palmetto Walk back to the Cafe.

COMMENT: We stay for lunch and the Cafe requested the number of diners. There will be a sign up on the MFM web site to let us know you are eating. Please sign up there or at any walk starting the 7h of November. Sign up by 28 November.

19 December 2020 Cady Way Park, Winter Park--A Guided Night Walk.
EVENT: 5/10K walk

START: Register between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.

AVA Special Programs: Walk the USA A-Z: W.

Description: Come join us at Cady Way Park at 2529 Cady Way for a 5 or 10 km walk as we enjoy holiday seasonal decorations and some older sections of Winter Park. Register between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. You must have a flashlight. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. Always carry water. Wheelchairs are not allowed but strollers are OK. Pets are not allowed. Event: 118553. Directions: To Cady Way Park at 2529 Cady Way, Winter Park, from FL436. Left at Scarlet (opposite University Blvd) cross Ranger, and curve left to ‘T’. Right on Cady Way to Park immediately on the right. From I-4E/W use exit 87, Fairbanks, go 3.5 miles. Right on Lakemont for 0.4 miles crossing Mizell to next street. Left on Dundee Dr. Right on Perth Ln. Left on Cady Way to park on the left.

January

1 January 2021 Lake Buena Vista.
EVENT: 6/10K walk

START: Register between 9:30 and 10:00 am.

AVA Special Programs: Carousals, Walk the USA A-Z: L.

NOTE: A mask is required at registration and if distancing among walkers is not possible. Disney requires masks on property and a temperature check.

Description: Register between 9:30-10:00 am. Walk fee is $3 per participant and children under 13 are free. The 6 and 10km walks are tree lined walks along LBV hotels and in Disney Springs. Restrooms are available at the start and in Disney Springs. Wheelchairs and strollers are acceptable. Pets are not allowed. Event: SE21/118559. Trail Ratings: 1A (sidewalks). Directions: Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf is at 12545 FL535. From Orlando use I-4W to Exit 68. Turn right on FL 535 (Apopka-Vineland Rd.) to the first traffic light. From Tampa on I-4E use exit 68. Turn left on FL535 (Apopka-Vineland Rd.) to the second traffic light. Turn right into the Crossroads Shopping Center. Continue straight ahead to the Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. After returning try to make par on both golf courses, they are fun. Carry water for your safety.

Always carry water. Wheelchairs are not recommended due to lack of sidewalks but strollers are OK. Pets are allowed. Event: SE21Y0394. Trail Ratings: 1A (sidewalks). Directions: To 148 E. Morse Ave. Winter Park from Orlando take I-4E to Exit 87, Fairbanks Ave. Turn right (left from I-4/W) for 1.8 miles into Winter Park. Turn left on New York Ave. Turn right on Morse Ave. and right into parking. From FL436N/S turn left on Aloma Ave. (right from FL436S) for 3.1 mi. Both turn right on New York. Turn right on Morse Ave. and right into parking. Strollers and wheelchairs permitted. Pets allowed but not in Central Park.

16 January 2021 Orlando Southport Park.
EVENT: 5/10K walk

START: Register between 8:30 and 9:15 am.

AVA Special Programs: Walk the USA A-Z: O.

Description: Come join us in south Orlando near the airport for a 5 or 10 km walk open to all as we enjoy the 3d event of the new year. Register between 8:30-9:15 am. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. A former Navy recreation area, Southport Park is a showcase recreation center for southeast Orlando. There are multiple athletic fields as well as picnic and playground areas, walking paths and other amenities. Walk is on streets and former Air Force housing from the 1970s. Leashed pets are allowed at all City parks, but not in playgrounds or athletic fields. Always carry water. Wheelchairs and strollers are not recommended. Pets are allowed. Event: SE21/118566. Directions: To the Southport Park at 3437 Barnstable Place, Orlando, FL, use toll FL528W and exit 9, Tradeport/Conway Rd. Left on S. Conway. Right on McCoy. Left on Deetwyler and right on Barnstable to parking on the left. From FL528E use exit 8, Jetport, and stay on access road. Right on Deetwyler and right on Barnstable to parking on the left.

30 January 2021 The Villages, Lake Sumter Landing.
EVENT: 5/10K walk

START: Register between 9:00 and 9:30 am.

Description: Come join us in The Villages for a 5 or 10 km walk open to anyone. Register between 9-9:30 am. Walk fee is $3 per participant, and children under 13 are free. The routes on sidewalks and multimodal recreation trails provide views of Lake Sumter, Lake Sumter Landing Town Square, gardens, residential, business, and athletic areas of The Villages. Directions: The Waterfront Inn is at 1105 Lake Shore Drive, hours 7am-6pm daily. From Orlando use FL 408W to the Turnpike to exit 304. Turn right on US 301 for 5.8 mi to County Rd 472. Turn right for 2 mi. Right at Buena Vista Blvd for 3.5 mi. Left on Old Mill Run to Inn. From US 441N go left at County Rd. 466 in Lady Lake for 2.9 mi. Left on Morse Blvd across bridge to first roundabout. Right on Old Mill Run. Right on Lake Shore Dr. to The Waterfront Inn.

Event Details



Description: These walks differ from the Celebration Number 2 walks in their routing. Passing larger homes and wooded boardwalks makes the walks varied and interesting. Visit Columbia, a 115-year-old family owned restaurant, among many in the Town, and Kilwins ice cream shop. Celebration's unique architecture was created by Disney by taking the best ideas and practices from yesterday's and today's towns. Starbucks has a publicly available restroom. Please carry water. 20 February 2021 Maitland at Walgreens.
EVENT: 5/10K walk

START: Register between 8:30 and 9:15 am.

Description: Join us as we walk our new route in the delightful city of Maitland; register between 8:30-9:15. The walk is in residential areas, passes the National Landmark Maitland Art Center, and along lakes. Please carry water and we have bottled water for a small donation at the start and Checkpoints. These walks are suitable for strollers but not wheelchairs. Pets are allowed. Event: Y1124. Trail Ratings: 1A (sidewalks and level terrain). Directions: GPS: 28.6254765,-81.3631535 To 310 S. Orlando Ave.; From Orlando on I-4E take Exit 90A-B (FL414, Maitland Blvd., Apopka). Then use Exit 90A, (Maitland Blvd., Sandspur). From Daytona on I-4W take the exit marked 90C-B-A, (FL414, Maitland Blvd., Lake Destiny). Stay to the left using Exit 90A-B, (FL414, Maitland Blvd.) and finally exit at 90A, (FL414 East, Maitland Blvd.) *BOTH: Go to Maitland Ave. and turn right for 1.3 miles to Packwood (1 block past light at Horatio). Left on Packwood past fire station on left, cross US 17-92, and right into Walgreens parking lot.
