27 January 2018 Orange City at Blue Springs State Park
AVA Special Programs: 5/10K walk: Boardwalks, USA A-Z: O.
DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-10:00 am near boardwalk. Walk 5 and 10km in this unique State Park. Arrive early. Trail is rated 1B and is 60% shaded. This is the largest spring on the St Johns River and is a designated a Manatee Refuge, home to a growing population of the West Indian Manatee. Walk on paved park road, unpaved campground road, service road, hiking trail, the Blue Run and Spring Boil Boardwalk where manatees are present in colder winter months. It's not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed in campgrounds and concessions or on beaches and boardwalks. For information call Mike Lanpher at 407.695.9181. email@example.com.
DIRECTIONS: To Blue Springs at 2100 W French from I-4W/E, exit 114, SR 472, & drive 3.1 miles and exit left to US 17-92S for 1.7 miles. Right on W French Ave for 2.0 miles, then left into Park. Must pay park entrance fee (correct change appreciated ($4 single, $6 for 2-8)). Drive straight to parking by Boardwalk (no turns). Information on day of walk, call 407.304.6394. AVA Special Programs: 6/11K walk: Bridges - Spanning the USA, Points of Reference, Walk the USA - Street by Street, Walking the USA A - Z, Boardwalks, Take a Walk In a City Park, Make a Wish at a Water Fountain, Ice Cream Parlors, United States Post Offices.
DESCRIPTION: Registration is between 8:30-9 am. Nice 6 or 11km walk by lakes, a city park, and golf course with very nice homes and landscaping. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish only. DIRECTIONS: To Starbucks Coffee at 715 Bloom St. from Daytona/ Orlando on I-4W take Exit 64, bear left to Kissimmee exit onto US 192E to Celebration Av. Turn right on Celebration Av. From Tampa on I-4E take Exit 64, Kissimmee, right on US 192E, & then right on Celebration Av. From Kissimmee on US 192W turn left on Celebration Av. From east Orlando on SR 417S take exit 2, Celebration Av. and turn left. DIRECTIONS: Park is at 3701 Gatlin Ave. Drive 4.2 miles south toward airport from Colonial (3 miles from SR 408) on Semoran, SR 436, past Curry Ford to Gatlin Ave. Turn right to Barber Park about 1/2 mile on the right. From SR 528 (Beachline) drive 3 miles north at exit 14 on Semoran, SR 436, to Gatlin Ave. Turn left to Barber Park about 1/2 mile on the right. Register in the large pavilion. DESCRIPTION: The center does not open until 9am so registration will start shortly after. Registration is between 9-9:30 am. Nice 5 or 10km walk by lakes, a city park, and residential areas with nice homes. The 5K walks past the historic train station and the large Orlando Health Center also. DESCRIPTION: Walk and lunch. Please RSVP on web site and list what you will bring in the comment section. $$ donations accepted. Lunch is from 10:30-1:00 Pot Luck at the walk. If you wish to bring a dish see the MFM web site for types needed. Register between 9:00-10:00 am for the 5 & 10 km walks in this hilltop town overlooking Lake Apopka from the west. Walk in residential areas and pass historic Montverde Academy. Trail rated 1A. The walk accommodates strollers but not wheelchairs. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish. Pets are not allowed. DIRECTIONS: To the start at Kirk Community Center at 17436 Division St, Montverde use FL408W (toll) from and follow FL-408 W and Florida's Turnpike north toward Ocala to exit 272. Turn left on FL-50W, W Colonial Dr. Use FL50W for 1.4 mi from Shell station to CR 455 and turn right. Follow CR455 as it turns left (go to *). From US 27 on SR50W drive 3.7 mi and turn left on CR455. *Pass Bella Collina and large Montverde Academy grounds to Park Ave. (do not go to gas station). DETAILS: Sponsored by Suncoast Sandpipers and Mid Florida Milers. The two clubs meet in the middle between Orlando and St. Pete to combine forces and showcase a truly nice city, its swans, Florida Southern University, and a very nicely laid out downtown area. A great lunch at the library featuring ham sandwich will finish the event. See Preregistration Section for lunch sign up by 26 March. Walk Payment is at a CP-bring check/correct $.

DESCRIPTION: The library is not open until 9:00. You may begin any time between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00; finish by 2:00. Lunch in the Library is 10:30-1:00. Walk the 10K or the 5K routes. Stroll through Florida Southern College that contains the largest on-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world. Wright referred to his work as "organic architecture." He believed a building should flow harmoniously with its natural surroundings. You'll have a chance to see up close the "Child of the Sun" structures designed by this influential architect. View scenic, swan-filled, lakes that give the city its name. The restored downtown area offers quaint shops, galleries, restaurants and cafes. Pass the beautiful Mirror Lake and through Hollis Garden, whose design and plant life depict the history of Florida. It is not suitable for wheel chairs but ok for sturdy strollers. Water and candy will be available at the start, checkpoints and finish; carry your own water. Leashed pets are permitted but not in the library building. One half mile later, make a slight right at FL33S Lakeland Hills Blvd. Continue to follow FL 33 south for 3 mi. Continue onto N Massachusetts Ave and, after a short distance, turn left at Bartow Rd (US 98S). Turn right after .8 mi on S Ingraham Ave. Turn right on Palmetto to library on right.
