Traditional Events are walking events with designated start time ranges. Don't worry though...you still walk them at your own pace!

August

19 August 2017 Urbain 40 Restaurant, Dellagio Plaza, off Sand Lake Rd.
AVA Special Programs: 6/10K walk: Points of Reference, Trekking with Trees, Walk USA St by St, You'll Never Walk Alone, USA A to Z: O.

START TIME: 10K: register between 9-9:30 am, walk at 9:30; FINISH by noon. 6K: 9:30-10 am, walk at 10. FINISH by noon.

LUNCH: Noon. We need preregistration/payment by 15 August for response to the restaurant. See below for registration.

MEETING: 1pm. We need a quorum of members for elections and motions. Please attend and see how we can grow club activities. Early membership renewals before 1 July are entered in a drawing for a gift card but you must attend the meeting to win.

DESCRIPTION: There will be 6 and 10 Km Guided Walk walk groups. A guided walk is conducted without instructions and volunteers lead and trail the group. This is a fun way to meet more members. The walks are in the Bay Hill area on residential Streets. Lots of shade. Please note walk group times. 10K walkers register between 9-9:30 am and walk at 9:30. If you arrive late, please walk with 6K. 6K walkers register between 9:30-10 am and walk at 10. Do not arrive late. For lunch please sign up on line and pay prepayment of $18.15 at a walk or mail check to Mid-Florida Milers to 26807 River Watch, Leesburg, FL 32748 by 13 August so it arrives by the 15th; we will pay by single check to avoid taxes. Lunch choices are: Urbain 40 hamburger, parmigiano chicken bianco, and Bolognese beef and pork (advise of dietary issues when paying). Lunch is about noon when walkers return, and is followed by the meeting. Wheelchairs and strollers are accommodated and pets are allowed but not in the restaurant. Trail rated 1A. Please carry water. DIRECTIONS: To Urbain 40 at Dellagio Plaza, 8000 Via Dellagio Way, Orlando, use I-4E/W to Exit 74A. Right from I-4W and left from I-4E passing Turkey Lake and Dr. Phillips. Just past Della Dr. turn right into Dellagio. Turn left at 2d garage entrance and drive to far end. Go to the back elevator (KEATOR is written on the elevator); take elevator to the first floor. If you use one of the other 2 elevators, take it to the 1st floor. Follow walk signs to fountain in front of Urbain 40. Registration is on the patio. The 10K guided walk registration begins at 9:00 and walk promptly at 9:30; the 6K guided walk registration begins at 9:30 starts and walk promptly at 10:00. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30-9:00 am for the 5K & 10K walk routes starting at the Senior Center and walk to the Loch Haven Park, Mead Garden, and antique row on Orange Ave. The walk accommodates strollers and wheelchairs. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish, Fresh Market, Panera, and Mead Garden. Leashed pets are allowed. Trail rated 1A. Always carry water. DIRECTIONS: To 99 East Marks St., Orlando, from Daytona via I4W use Exit 84, Ivanhoe Blvd Turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Go straight on Legion Place and merge into Orange Ave., a one-way street. Keep left and turn left onto Marks St. The Senior Center parking lot is on the left after the apartment building. The Senior Center is the large pink building. From Disney/Tampa via I4E to Orlando use Exit 83A, Amelia St. Go straight at the bottom of the ramp. Keep right and turn right at the next light onto Colonial Drive (SR50E). Turn left at the second traffic light onto Magnolia Ave. a one-way street. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Marks St. & the Senior Center on your right. Park in the lot. GPS: 28.5573616,-81.3775669.

DESCRIPTION: Walk and lunch (RSVP on web site for lunch. If you would bring a side dish or dessert, list what it is in the sign up comment section). $5 donation for lunch at walk. Register between 8:30-10:00 am for the 5 & 10 km walks in Montverde. Walk in this hilltop town overlooking Lake Apopka from the west. Walk in a residential areas and pass historic Montverde Academy. Trail rated 1A. The walk accommodates strollers but wheelchairs with difficulty. There are many roads with no sidewalks. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish. DIRECTIONS: To the start at Kirk Community Center at 17436 Division St, Montverde use FL-408 W (toll) from and follow FL-408 W and Florida's Turnpike north to FL-50W/W Colonial Dr. Take exit 272 from Florida's Turnpike. Turn left on FL-50W/W Colonial Dr. Turn right on Oakland Ave at Shell station. Immediately left on FL 438 that changes to Old Hwy 50 E in Lake County after Killarney Station. Then becomes CR 455 to Montverde. Pass Bella Collina and large Montverde Academy grounds to Park Ln. (do not go to gas station). Right on Park Ln. - one way - and park in available place. Walk starts in the Kirk Community Center. Alternately use SR 50W going 1.4 mi from Shell station to CR 455 and turn right. From US 27 on SR50W drive 3.7 mi and turn left on CR 455. Pass Bella Collina and large Montverde Academy grounds to Park Ave. (do not go to gas station). Right on Park Ln. - one way - and park in an available place. Walk starts in the Kirk Community Center. DESCRIPTION: The Center opens at 9 am; register afterwards. The 5 and 10K walk registration is between 9:00-9:30 am. Walk instructions have local info on walk routes. You will walk on downtown and residential sidewalks. See historic downtown Orlando, Lake Eola, art projects downtown, and the County Courthouse. DIRECTIONS: To the Beardall Senior Center at 800 N Delaney From I-4W, use exit 82B, Anderson. Left to Orange. Right on Orange and go to 3rd light, Gore. Left on Gore then left into the center. From I-4E use exit 82B. Right on South St. Right on Orange go to 4th light, Gore. Left and then left into center. From SR 408W use exit 11A, Rosalind. Left on South St, and stay in left lane to Orange. Left on Orange to 4th light, Gore. Left and then left into center. From SR408E use exit 10C, Downtown. Stay in left lane to Delaney. DESCRIPTION: The 5K and 10K (3.1/6.2 mi) shaded walks register between 8:30-10 am in the State Park. A guided walk is at 9 am. Donate for a lunch to enjoy on this St. Johns River Island. Hamburger/Hotdog BBQ for a $5 donation starting at 11:00 a.m. Bring your own drinks. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish. Leashed pets are allowed. Trail rated 2B. Always carry water. DIRECTIONS: To the park at 2309 River Ridge Rd. from Orlando on I-4E take exit 114, turn left on SR472W, and exit right onto US 17-92. Turn left on SR15 Alt. Turn left on W Beresford Ave. Turn right on S. Beresford Rd. Turn left on Old New York Ave. Turn left on Hontoon Rd. (CR 4125) for 3.4 miles. Turn left into the Hontoon Island State Park parking lot. From Daytona/Port Orange from SR44 & I-4 (exit 118) drive west about 7 miles thru DeLand; bear left on Old New York Ave (CR 4110) for 1.9 miles; left on Hontoon Rd. (CR 4125) for 3.4 miles. Turn left into the Hontoon Island State Park parking lot From both directions: walk to the nearby boat dock. The ferry will come for you. 14 October 2017 Bike Event at Deltona Green Springs Park

DESCRIPTION: Happy Wanderers sponsor this event. Register between 9-9:30 am; Guided Bike at 9:30 am. Route is 25km Guided Bike event on the East-Central (rail) Trail from Deltona/Enterprise to Osteen and east. Cyclers are responsible for their own bikes and all riders are recommended to wear helmets and safety gear as appropriate. Bring water, sunscreen. DIRECTIONS: To 994 Lakeshore Dr., Deltona, from I-4 take Exit 108 and turn left towards DeBary/Deltona and follow signs for Green Springs Park. Go approximately 2 miles (4th light) to Providence Blvd (there is a 7-11 on the right-hand corner) and turn right. Go .3 mi to a "T" intersection and turn left onto Lakeshore Dr. Continue 1 mile and just past the Deltona Community Ctr (on left) turn left into the park entrance road. Parking is limited. Overflow parking will be at the Deltona Community Ctr near the park entrance turn and participants can ride the short distance into the park from there if needed. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30 and 10:00 am for the 5 and 10 Km walks which are in the park, residential areas, and circle Lake Underwood on a partially shaded route. Trail rated 1A. The walk accommodates strollers but wheelchairs with difficulty. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish and city parks. Pets are allowed on a leash. Always carry water. DIRECTIONS: To the start at Langford Park at 1808 Central Ave., Orlando, toll use I-4W/E exiting onto FL-408E to exit 12, Bumby Ave. Left on Bumby. At light left on Central Blvd. Non Toll from I-4E use exit 83A (I-4W use exit 84) and continue straight to Colonial Dr. Turn right (westbound turn left) on Colonial Dr. and go 1.5 miles to Hampton Ave. Turn right on Hampton. Turn right on Central and immediately park in the church lot on the corner. Walk on Central left to park entrance at drive in (pass the building) and left following the sidewalk to end at Pavilion #3. From east Orlando use Colonial to Bumby Ave. Turn left on Bumby. Turn Right on Central Blvd. From SR 408W use Crystal Lake exit. Go straight on South St. to Bumby. Right on Bumby. Left at light on Central Blvd. Both from east Orlando: it makes a right jog after 4 blocks. Turn left staying on Central and immediately park in the church lot on the corner. Walk on Central left to park entrance at drive in (past the building) and left following the sidewalk to end at Pavilion #3. Information on day of walk, call 407.304.6394. Information: Join the Happy Wanderers, Mid-Florida Milers and Suncoast Sandpipers in a central Florida tradition: Walk Around Flori-da, a weekend of volkssports, dining & fel-lowship.
